Managing Archaeological Sites
Re:discovery’s Archaeology Module documents all site information, from the general location down to the individual artifacts. There are five different record types for the various components of the site:
Site Records:
The general
topography and coordinates
of an archaeological site.
Context Records:
Each layer, including soil descriptions
and datum points.
Master Context Records:
Features that are common to many layers.
Artifact Records:
Individual
artifacts recovered from a specific excavation.
Object Records:
Related multiple artifact records (for example, pieces of one clay jar) to form a “whole” object.
